I got my first real start with photography after school, when doing field work in Kamchatka, Russia. I’ve shot a DSLR (and later mirrorless camera) on and off for almost 20 years and film for the last 7 years. Photography has always been a creative outlet for me, and I like experimenting with films and cameras.

I try to shoot fairly stripped-down and minimal setups. I often travel with one “real” camera and my Ricoh GR10. I also try to have a degree of consistency with film. I try to shoot mostly Portra 400 and Delta 400/3200, though I keep a wide array of films on hand. I’m a huge fan of shooting black and white on film, since it feels more “authentic” than shooting full colour digital and making it black and white in post.

Shoot Film Not Me comes from an incident that happened in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, when shooting with a Nikon F6 while doing fissure extension measurements past the UN line of control. I’m fairly okay not having more AK47s waved in my direction while I’ve got my camera on me.
